WORKING WITH KELLIE
The ProcesS
Here’s what you can expect when you work with Kellie Burke Interiors:
-
During our initial meeting we will chat as we walk through your home. I don’t ask about what you want, but how you live, your favorite place to sit in the house, your favorite music and morning rituals as well as what your dictates are. I ask my clients to provide some initial lifestyle images of places and things that they love, and I encourage them to do a FaceTime video walkthrough to acclimate myself to the space before we meet. I ask them to tell me their goals for the space, but also what makes you crazy about it and what made you pick up the phone and call me. Budget is very important to me. A client typically holds this info close to their vest until trust has been established; however, it’s the most integral part of a design relationship.
-
I want you to have the experience of lifestyle. A mood of a room that enhances your lifestyle is transformative; a drizzle here or there just doesn’t work. Set a budget and a goal and stay focused. This means we still need to see the whole home and have an overall future vision but I like to start in one room and really nail it, then let the process roll on. I typically work with clients for years as their tastes and vision and budget expands throughout the home.
-
Client and team interaction for imagining and creating the perfect space: After our walkthrough and our introduction I ask my clients to send me just a few images from Pinterest or Vogue or any lifestyle magazine that you love. Not what you want your home to look like, but things that really grab your attention. I can tell an entire story about a person just by the sneakers they purchase.
From there, our team collaborates and creates mood boards that relate to the clients style, inclusive of fashion, travel and even outdoor spaces. From the mood boards we begin the journey of proper furniture layouts that fit the space, using our computer technology to judge the scale and positioning of every piece.
-
When we do our presentation, feedback is imperative. This is a collaboration of your style and my expertise and connections, in order to create your dream home. We love to hear a client’s opinion as we present. The “wows” —and “I can’t believe you figured this out so quickly” — are fun to hear, but those little details like “that reminds me of my grandmother,” or “I really don’t like pink” make it easier for us to really understand your personality. The emotional reaction is most important to me when I’m presenting. If the initial response is not super-emotional and exciting, we need to go back to the drawing board until we hit that pitter-patter on your heart strings.
-
I’ve spent my lifetime sourcing fabulous high quality home decor, always with an edge of unique and ultimate quality. This lifetime of sourcing, represented in my own design showroom, allows me to procure unique, traveled accessories, furnishings and fabrics at lighting speed. I have sources all around the world.

Design is the first step but the back office workflow to organize your project is the secret sauce. With the multitude of moving parts in a project—from specifying paint colors to designing shop drawings for the contractors on site, to dusting and fluffing pillows on an installation day—having a qualified staff effectively watching over your project and communicating with you and all contractors allows our clients ease in knowing we have them covered.
-
Relationships and communication with clients happen daily. We need feedback on how you are feeling throughout the process. We want to make sure you are up to date on the status of orders, when contractors are arriving, when deadlines are completed, when items are in back order and all of the elements that are tracked daily by our team.

My expertise allows for a smooth flow and swift execution of a project. The greatest part of growing up as a contractor’s daughter, alongside three brothers, is that I know how to make things happen! I have no fear in pushing limits or deadlines to get where we need to go. I know the process of design inside and out from architectural design, structural design, cabinet design, furniture design, lighting design and bringing it all together for my clients is the most fulfilling part of what I do.
